NBC Sports Group
Designed NBC's mobile home for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, work that helped NBC Sports Group win a Sports Emmy for Outstanding New Approaches in Sports Event Coverage.

Every event, live, in a pocket
The Sochi Games ran for seventeen days, nine hours ahead of New York. Fans followed them on their phones, between everything else, and NBC needed a mobile site that kept every event, result and medal count current and could be read at a glance.

Results first, everything one tap away
As Lead Olympic Designer I designed The NBC Olympic Mobile Website and worked with the Web Development team through launch. The home leads with the medal count; each sport opens onto its schedule, results and standings, with stories, photos and video a tap away.

Specs the team could build from
Every page went to development with its type, color and spacing values marked up, so the build could match the design. The site went live in February 2014.
Medal counts, straight to the inbox
I designed the style guides for the NBC Olympic Email Campaign, which kept fans current on medal counts and team standings through the Games: a cover, top-story layouts and the type specs to build every send from.

Who plays whom, before the puck drops
For hockey and curling, men’s and women’s, I designed match-up graphics for the NBC Olympic Website that announced each day’s countries at a glance: flags over black and white action photography.
An Emmy for the coverage
The site was well received by the development team and carried NBC’s coverage through the Games. nbcolympics.com helped NBC Sports Group win the 2014 Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding New Approaches in Sports Event Coverage, and the broadcast credits named its web designers, me among them.
